Summing Up My Experience In Boston

Today we went home and I am so glad to be back. I missed my parents and skating, though now I am going to miss Boston. My mom told me that during the summer, she and I are going to return to the Boston area, so I am very excited for that! Overall, I believe the trip to have have been a pretty fun one (yet with a lot of behind the scenes drama)!
I liked all the sites we went to, though I could have done without going to Fenway Park. If there were one thing I could change, it would have to be not letting all the drama and things that were happening get to me as much as they did. I learned many things about Boston and about all the Historic sites to which we went. At the Old North Church, I learned that Paul Revere hung two lanterns to signify that the British were coming by sea. I also learned that Paul Revere was actually not the one who hung the lanterns, for he was captured and taken hostage by the British. I learned many other interesting facts like these.

Based on the two colleges that our school visited, I prefer schools in big cities (urban settings). I would assume this is due to the fact I have lived in a big, crowded city all my life. I enjoy aspects of both large and small schools: the focus and attention received at a smaller school, the social aspect from a larger school. Though if I had to chose, I would say the smaller school. This is because I have done so much better at my current, small school than I had at my previous school, which was very large in comparison. After having a chance to tour these schools, my view on college has not changed much. Just about the only change would be to say I am now never going to be open to the idea of going to a religious school.
A way to sum up my Boston trip would be to say that I loved Boston, but not so much the experiences I was having while I was there. I can't wait to return to Boston and, hopefully, I will have an outstanding time!

The Third and Final Day of Our Bostonian Trip!

Boston University

Today I did not exactly have the most fun I've ever had. Though overall it wasn't the best day, I did enjoy looking at the graves where all the people accused of witchcraft were buried. It was very creepy to see the actual graves in which the persons we are reading about had been buried. In the cemetery there was a blood stain on the ground, which Ian Anderson tried to assure me has remained there since the burials. I do not know whether to believe him or not. After we went to the graves, we went to a museum. At the museum, one of the things we learned about was Maori moko: Maori tattooing. All the different Maori tribes produce different, distinguishable tattoos. Another factor, which contributes to the variation among Maori tattoos, is the subject's personal experiences. After the museum, we went to a small little town called Rockport, where Emma, Ashley, Meredith, and I all went crazy shopping. To view the list of shops at Rockport, click HERE.
At a later time during the day, we all went to a play called Sheer Madness. I loved this play! It was hilarious and the man who played Tony was my favorite character. He was so funny! For information about the cast, play or information about the tickets, click HERE.

The Second Day of the Boston Trip

Today I left the hotel room, being extremely tired from not sleeping the night before. We went to Fenway Park and we had been assigned to a very crazy tour guide. He made me laugh a few times, but for the most part I was a little scared of him. He did teach me a few things about the park though: everyone who has played at Fenway Park has signed a certain (hidden) wall and that Fenway Park is the home ballpark of the Boston Red Sox. Besides the guide, the park was enjoyable, yet I am not really interested in sports such as baseball. I would have much rather gone to an ice rink in Boston, but Fenway Park was fine. Afterwards, we walked The Freedom Trail. This was fun because I am very interested in the time period during which Paul Revere and the rest of the founding fathers lived. I loved seeing The Old North Church. It was exciting to hear that one of the lanterns, which Paul Revere hung, had not been found. I also learned that The Old North Church, originally named Christ Church, is the oldest church to still be in service in the Boston area. Quincy Market

Today we also went shopping at Quincy Market. I learned that Quincy Market was named after Josiah Quincy. He put together this shopping area, prohibiting taxes on all of the commodities sold in the market. I am not sure whether taxes are still prohibited in the marketplace today or if the market is still run how it was when it was first built. Afterwards, we visited Boston University, which I did not like. Nothing at this school interested me and the tour guide did not do the school any justice. Information on Boston University can be found by clicking HERE.

The First Day of the Boston Trip

The first day we arrived in Boston, I was so excited to have a great time with Ashley and Emma. I did have a lot of fun the first night, eating at The Hard Rock Cafe and shopping afterwards. When we arrived back at the hotel, it was about time to go to sleep. Emma and I decided it would be a fun idea to stay up all night. Ashley thought this would be fun also, but she fell asleep at about three. Emma and I watched movies, talked about fun topics and did each other's nails. Staying up all night was one of the stupidest decisions I made the whole time I had been there (though it was fun!).
